We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Risk Officer to lead our risk management efforts.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk management within financial services or fintech (preferably PSPs, e-wallets, BaaS), with a focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the organization to ensure sustainable growth and compliance.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive risk management strategy aligned with the company’s objectives and risk appetite;
Continuously assess and enhance risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks to adapt to changing business environments and emerging threats;
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and prioritize risks across the organization;
Utilize data analytics and risk modeling techniques to analyze trends and patterns, enabling informed decision-making and proactive risk mitigation;
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, such as PCI DSS, PSD2, AML/KYC, GDPR, and other applicable laws;
Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the company’s risk profile, implementing necessary changes to maintain compliance;
Design and implement robust fraud prevention strategies and controls to safeguard against fraudulent activities in payment transactions;
Leverage advanced fraud detection technologies and analytics to detect and prevent fraudulent behavior, minimizing financial losses and reputational damage;
Identify and assess operational risks arising from internal processes, systems, and external factors, developing mitigation plans to minimize their impact;
Establish business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure the resilience of critical business operations in the event of disruptions;
Preparation of proposals for minimizing risks, creating a minimization plan, approving the budget and necessary resources, and monitoring the implementation of such plans;
Prepare timely and insightful risk reports for senior management, the board of directors, and regulatory authorities, highlighting key risks, trends, and mitigation efforts;
Foster a culture of risk awareness and transparency by communicating risk-related information effectively across the organization and promoting accountability for risk management;
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MSc) preferred;
Proven experience in a senior risk management role within the financial services industry, with specific expertise in payment processing or fintech;
In-depth knowledge of payment industry regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices, including but not limited to PCI DSS, PSD2, AML/KYC, GDPR, etc;
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in risk assessment methodologies, data analysis, and risk modeling techniques;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex risk concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making;
Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate and mitigate emerging risks while supporting the organization’s growth objectives;
Relevant professional certifications in risk management (e.g., FRM, CRM), compliance, or related fields preferred.
