System Engineer

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator, System Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or similar role, managing complex IT infrastructures.

• Proven experience with Linux and Windows server administration.

• Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (VMWare ESXi).

• Hands-on experience with disaster recovery and backup solutions (e.g., Veeam Backup and Replication).

• Proven experience with Docker/Portainer/Kubernetes.

• Experience in configuring and managing nginx reverse proxy and iptables rules.

• Knowledge of security best practices and tools (e.g., Symantec Endpoint Protection, Elastic Stack, Zabbix).

• Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to document processes and interact with cross-functional teams.

• At least Intermediate level of English.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Rocky Linux, Ubuntu) with services such as OpenVPN Server, OCServ (Cisco AnyConnect), PostgreSQL, nginx reverse proxy, iptables, Docker, and Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).

• Deploy, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters (on-premise and cloud-managed).

• Manage Windows servers including Active Directory, DNS, Remote Desktop Services, WSUS, Group Policies, and distribution of software to laptops.

• Oversee Microsoft SQL Server installations with AlwaysOn configurations, backups (full and transaction log), and high availability solutions.

• Maintain and manage VMWare ESXi infrastructure, including virtual machine deployment and monitoring.

• Administer Veeam Backup and Replication for backup and disaster recovery operations.

• Deploy, configure, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure, including migration from in-house systems (e.g., MSSQL, Kubernetes, and VM workloads) and setup of virtual networks, storage accounts, and compute instances.

• Implement and manage HashiCorp Vault (or equivalent) for secrets management and secure credential storage — both stand-alone and Azure-integrated setups.

• Implement and maintain security measures such as iptables, Symantec Endpoint Protection, and SSL/TLS configurations.

• Monitor and manage server logs using tools like Elastic Stack, Zabbix and Azure Monitor to ensure system integrity and compliance.

• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and ensure regular testing of backup and replication procedures.

• Proactively monitor system performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks using tools like Zabbix.

• Manage user accounts and permissions across various platforms — including VPN, Active Directory, Azure AD, Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence), Zoho, and other SaaS tools.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure, configurations, processes, and procedures.
